I attended Kindergarten through sixth grade at Balboa Elementary School in Glendale, California during the 1960s. My mom was in the PTA and she still has the box of recipe cards collected from other PTA members. This is what I consider the best of that collection.
All ingredients and instructions are the same as they are on the original recipe cards in the box. In some cases, to give clarification, I added a note in brackets [ ], expanded abbreviations, and corrected some of the original punctuation and spelling errors. Otherwise, I made no other changes to the recipes. I think you'll enjoy seeing some of the charming notations, as well as some of the ingredients and items that were common in those days (such as monosodium glutamate, oleo, and freezer trays).
