Soak beans in water with cover over night. Cook beef until browned in large Dutch oven stirring to keep crumbly. Drain off drippings, if necessary. Add tomato paste, onions, and drained beans. Mix chili powder, cumin, and salt to taste and then stir into mixture. Bring to boil, turn down to low heat, cover and simmer until beans are tender, about 5 hours. Makes 4 - 6 servings.
