Ice Box Cookies

This recipe was handwritten by my mom many years ago when she was very young, probably some time in the '40s. The card is old and very yellowish-brown.

Cream the fat. Stir in the sugar gradually. Add eggs unbeaten one at a time; add vanilla. Mix well. Stir in the dry ingredients to make a stiff dough.

Flour hands and shape dough into rolls about 2 inches in diameter and 6 to 8 inches long. Wrap tightly in wax paper and chill in the ice box. Unroll when ready to use, place on wax paper, cut 1/8 inch thick, place on baking sheet and bake 10-15 minutes in moderate oven (375°F).
