This recipe was handwritten by my mom many years ago when she was very young, probably some time in the '40s. The card is old and very yellowish-brown.
Cream the fat. Stir in the sugar gradually. Add eggs unbeaten one at a time; add vanilla. Mix well. Stir in the dry ingredients to make a stiff dough.
Flour hands and shape dough into rolls about 2 inches in diameter and 6 to 8 inches long. Wrap tightly in wax paper and chill in the ice box. Unroll when ready to use, place on wax paper, cut 1/8 inch thick, place on baking sheet and bake 10-15 minutes in moderate oven (375°F).
