Orange Slice Cake

1 16-oz. pkg. orange gumdrop candy slices
1 8-oz. pkg. dates, cut up
2 cups chopped nuts
1 cup flaked coconut

Combine the above ingredients and set aside.

1 cup butter or margarine
2 cups sugar
4 eggs
1 cup sour milk (1 cup milk + 1 Tbsp. vinegar)
3 tsp. vanilla
3-1/2 cups flour
1 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. salt

Preheat oven to 300°F. Grease and flour tube pan.

Combine butter and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time. Add vanilla. Combine flour, soda and salt. Add dry ingredients alternately with sour milk to butter mixture. Add the nut mixture; mix well. Pour into prepared pan and bake 2 hours (check after 1 hour 45 minutes). Remove from oven. Pour glaze over cake while still warm.

GLAZE:

1 cup orange juice
2 cups confectioner's sugar

Combine and pour over warm cake.
