Another old, handwritten recipe, probably from Ma Virg.
Mix sugar, egg and shortening together thoroughly. Stir in milk. Sift together the dry ingredients and add them to the sugar mixture. Stir. Spread in greased and floured 9-inch square pan. Sprinkle with mixture of 1/2 cup brown sugar and 1-1/2 tsp. cinnamon. Bake at 375°F for 25-35 minutes.
