Pumpkin Bread

This recipe was shared by our very dear neighbor, Mary, in 1970. She is now 91 years old and still lives in the same home which she shares with her husband (age 90).

Heat oven to 350°F. Mix shortening and sugar. Add eggs, pumpkin and water. Blend flour, soda, salt, baking powder, cinnamon and cloves. Combine flour mixture with shortening mixture. Stir in nuts and raisins. Pour into 2 well greased loaf pans, 9x5x3-inches. Bake 65-70 minutes until toothpick comes out clean.
