Sock-It-To-Me Cake

This recipe for the very popular cake was published in the "S.O.S." column of the Food section of the Los Angeles Times.  It states that the cake was popular in the '60s when "sock it to me" was a catch phrase.

CAKE:

Combine pecans, brown sugar and cinnamon in small bowl. Set aside. Combine cake mix, oil, water, sugar, sour cream and eggs in large bowl and beat at high speed with electric mixer 2 minutes. Pour 2/3 mixture into greased 10-inch tube pan. Sprinkle nut mixture over batter. Add remaining batter and bake at 350°F until toothpick inserted in cake comes out clean, 45 to 55 minutes. Cool 5 minutes.

GLAZE:

Slowly add milk to powdered sugar, stirring until smooth. Drizzle over cake to cover completely.
