Spanish Rice

This recipe was handwritten years ago on a recipe card that's turned yellow through the years. I found it in my mom's recipe box.

1 cup boiled rice
4 slices bacon
1/2 green pepper, chopped
1/4 tsp. salt
dash of pepper
1 tsp. sugar
1 small onion, chopped
1 cup tomatoes
1 Tbsp. butter

Brown bacon and remove from pan. In bacon fat, brown pepper and onion. Combine all ingredients and put in casserole. Bake in moderate oven about 30 minutes.
