Moisture: Regular water during growth and bloom, but yearround water is OK with good drainage.
Problems: Multiplies very quickly; several bulbs planted in a small area multiplied into 300-400 new bulbs within two years. Some plants have come up in areas where they were not planted. Needless to say, I'll be busy removing all these bulbs this year (2003) in an effort to completely erradicate them from my gardens. They are very pretty and easy care (except for having to painstakingly remove hundreds of them in a small area) and, in my opinion, are best in large open areas rather than small tidy gardens.
Purchased: Late 90s from a bulb catalog
Planted: Shortly after purchase.
Conditions: In amended clay soil; some areas are in part shade, some in full sun.
Other comments: Pretty star-like flowers in spring. Fairly tolerant of most conditions, but seems to prefer a little shade and moisture over sun and dryness.
